Hello friends and family,
Praise be to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! We have met our first goal! We reached the $11,000 mark last Sunday, February 11th. We celebrate this endeavor with our many supporters. We believe that by reaching this goal, it has been God’s way of affirming us along the way. Every prayer and financial gift has been a blessing and a reminder that God is at work. There is no doubt in our minds that the time for us to adopt a beautiful little boy from Guatemala is now. God has graciously affirmed in many ways the central desire of our hearts which is to raise a child in the ways of the Lord. As I write we are preparing our initial application and contracts to be ready to be sent to AGCI along with a $5,000 check for a relief fee and another check for $5,800 to cover adoption expenses in Guatemala.
We are also thrilled to report that we found a social worker who will do our Home Study and help us with our accompanying paperwork. She comes highly recommended from a couple that has adopted from China. Catherine Richardson, our social worker, works for an agency named Adopt for the Love of a Child. We will begin the large task of filling out all the paperwork that accompanies our home study soon. Please be praying that we can accomplish this daunting task one step at a time.
We are thrilled that you have chosen to embark on this journey with us. We will keep you posted as things develop . Keep checking our website for updates. Thank you for all of your support. We love each one of you and cannot wait for our little boy to come home.

Jess and Darren,
What a blessing it will be for you and Darren and most of all for the child you will adopt as you will embrace them with so much love you and Darren have. God is a treasure and I know he has great plans for you all!!!! God BLess!
It has been 1 year and 4 months since we last wrote anything on our blog. We are not very "with it" technology people, but we are thankful for the opportunities it gives us. Just to catch you up briefly, we are currently on hold until January of 2009. Our country, Guatemala is closed due to recent adoption laws passed that will hopefully better the adoption process in my country. Meanwhile, we find ourselves waiting again. We were recently turned down from adopting from India and Bulgaria. These were alternatives in case Guatemala's adoption program does not open back up. We were not discouraged by these news, but a bit sad. We are holding on to God's promises and will not loose hope that someday we will have our little dream come home to us. If you read this message, please pray that we will continue to trust in God and that we hold on to His hand. Our greatest desire is to bring Him honor and glory, so we know that the road will not be easy. Please let us know how we can be in prayer for all of you. May our Lord continue to bless you. Love, Jessica and Darren
